I have found a school in my state that looks good (Mesa Lands) but I am thinking of going to the Oklahoma Horseshoeing School. Is OHS a good school? Does any one know which is the best school in the US maybe Canada? Or where did you farrier go to school or where did you go? Tell me why you think that school is the best thanks!

  1. Yes!  OHS!

  2. i did hear the best one was in oklahoma, i saw a video of it once and it did mention they were the best (at the time i seen the video)

    good luck.

edit: what you could do, if you wanted is write or call a few schools and ask for ALL their info, and if they have a video, get them to send one too. . . every school i looked at *and i still do it to this day* i fill out EVERYTHING on the "what would you like us to send you about our school?" check list. and all that info is free and a good way to get a better idea of each school. . . i do believe there is also a web site ( i lost it but i'm sure if you google college rankings or something like that you'll find it, or your high school may have it posted in the guidence office like mine did) this web site ranks all the schools in the country on each thing, from best school food to best science program, so i'm sure the farrrier schools will have a ranking list as well. again good luck and just ask for all the info they have.

  3. I went to the Kentucky School of Horseshoeing.  Mitch Taylor runs a very anatomy based program.  He does lectures nationwide.  You really learn the how and why of what your doing and its effects on the foot, leg and gaits.  He get students from around the world.  I don't like the man personally but I'll still admit he can really teach.  If you'd like to email me I can try to answer any questions.

  4. I went to the school linked in the sources. :)  It isn't part of a college or anything, but it's quick, through, and they will pair you up as an apprentice to someone else - no matter where you live or plan on working. You can come back at any point and ask questions / use his workshop, and he will help you become certified when you are ready. There's a bunch more, but if your interested, you can figure it out :) Good luck!

Bad part, is that it's in California -- but they do offer bunkhouses :)
