What school supplies does a child need for pre k?

my son is about to start pre K and i was wondering what are the general school supplies for that "grade". I thought it may just be pencils, erasers, crayons, markers, colored pencils and glue... does anyone know for sure?

Very interesting question!  Where do you live that your child is required to bring school supplies to his preK classroom?  Most in our state provide the supplies that they need for school time.

Sounds like you have an idea though... scissors should be included in that list...but again...for home practice.. your classroom should provide the other.  Often in our prek classrooms we ask for arts/craft supplies and kleenex.  :-)

My son who is in Pre-K was told he didn't need anything other then a standard sized back pack.  Through out the year the teacher does write to the parents and asks for donations of school supplies that are used for projects.

mostly the school gives u the items but they ask for your coopperation when they need it but mostly glue isnt right bcuz the teacher usually glues for them beause they might it it

Sounds about right, but the school should give you a list. Facial tissues, construction paper, and glue are some definites.

Maybe some school safe scissors, paper, facial tissue, ziploc bags....these were some of my items on the list when I taught school (in addition to the ones you listed).

The school will give you a definite list before your child starts.  You might want to wait and get the items when you get that list because some teachers/schools might have certain items/brands they want purchased.

sounds like the basics.

glue

pencils

construction paper

tissue box

folders

and hand sanitizer usually.

just go ask the school and they will give you the exact list.
