Hi,

I'm interested in buying a scooter, but I'm trying to find one that is legal to drive in the highway. I live in California, and I'm not exactly sure, but I think it has to be 250cc. I'm a girl and about 5''2', so I don't want to get something big like the Yamaha Majesty. I actually wanted to get the Yamaha Vino 125, but the only way to avoid the highway to get to work and school is to drive through some heels. I'm not certain if a 125cc can do that.

So my question is if anyone knows of a legal scooter on a freeway. I prefer it looking like something like a vino, or a zuma. It doesn't have to be a Yamaha but I'm looking around that price range. I saw online Vespa has a really nice 250cc, but it's quite expensive. I tried craigslist and the only one I saw was 6k. So anyone with suggestions?

Thank you for your help.

  1. The federal hwy law requires scooters / motorcycles to be at least 150cc.  But to comfortably ride on the hwy you need at least 250cc.

If you don't want something big, go check out Honda scooters.  Their smallest HWY legal scooters are 250cc.

They actually have 5 different models in 250cc range.

    Good luck....

  2. 250cc is your best bet for the highway. Look at Kymco scooter if you can they are rated the best in the world behind Piaggio and Vespa and better than all of the name brand j*p scooters. They do not cost as much and have a better warranty. They have three styles of 250's. I have been around them for several years now and they hardly ever need more than a oil change. The Xciting 250 is  the one they trade

Burgmans in on. And with modern day scooters 125cc and up hills should not be problem. Kymco makes scooters from 50cc up to 500cc.
