Question:

What seals can I use on my ecommerce website to enhance credibility?

I'm creating a website to sell information. I will put a PayPal Verified seal in there, but I want even more seals to increase credibility. At this point of my business, I'm not excepting any orders online, I'm only accepting order requests via email form. Therefore, I don't have SSL, so I can't use VeriSign or Thawte. Is there anything else that I can use to enhance credibility?

Thanks,

  1. put 30 day money back guarantee logo in it. If they are not satisfy with product, they can do a refund though paypal.

  2. Hi, good question...

    You can try this: http://hurleypix.com/honestonline

However you do need to be ethical and honest about your online dealings to be able to qualify for this.

    Hope that helps. :)

  3. Paypal itself is pretty good credibility.

You can tell them that they can purchase your product without giving you their credit card number, as paypal doesn't expose you to it.

You don't even need the "PayPal Verified" seal for this, since it's self evident in the transaction.

Personally, I don't trust a site that brags about how secure they are. I once installed a shopping cart for a guy that had his site plastered with these "seals", the way he demanded I configure the thing left a great big security hole, one he refused to allow me to correct. (and yes, I did inform him about it... several times, my warnings just went ignored.)

Too many seals make it appear as if you're "trying to hard" and anyway, none of them are any guarantee.

Going through a trusted 3rd party for payment is about the best you can do because a visitor can see first hand how it works (and who gets the information)

It sounds like you'll be doing that anyway - good job!
