  1. u don't say where u live george. Very important. Call or email ur local agriculturalist or try home depot and they can give u all the particulars u really need, as opposed to us guessing.

  2. seeds? plant seeds early spring, or late summer. don't expect them to come up necessarily in their first year because they're biannuals.

  3. The best time to plant Hollyhock seeds is when hollyhocks normally go to seed.  If there are any hollyhock plants in your neighborhood, watch them and when you see the seeds being "thrown", then it is time to plant.  And, the following year, do the same again.  That way you will have Hollyhocks every year.

  4. You can plant them now all the way into the fall.  Seeds are the easiest.  The plant will come up this year but will not bloom this year because it is a biennial.  Biennial means that it will grow for one year and bloom the next then the plant dies.  If you wait too late into the fall to plant then the plant may actually take two years to bloom.  Just make sure you don't think there is something wrong with it if it doesn't bloom next year.  Once you get them established you will usually have some every year because they reseed themselves.  They come in loads of colors.
