What sect of hindu vaishnavism do most people in Calcutta India follow?

  1. If they are Bengali (their native language or mother tongue is Bangla or Bengali) then Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's vaishnavism

    Note that majority of the people in Calcutta are Bengalis BUT most of them are GODDESS WORSHPPERS and NOT Vaishnavs.

    If they are Gujarati (by mother tongue or native language) then they follow "Shree Nathjee" or "Thakorejee's" vaishnavism characterized by 'Haveli' building as their place of worship or faith

    Note that there are many Gujaratis living in Calcutta which is  now called Kolkata.

    To answer your question in brief most people of Calcutta India follow Goddess worshipping.  Some of them follow Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's Vaishnavism.  Gujaratis (a minority there) being exception and they follow Shree Nathjee's or Thakorjee's Vaishnavism with Havelis.
