  1. Well the sensory part is the feeling of the dry clay and the wet clay, the sound of it when it's wet and the sound of hitting it on the table when its dry. Children gain creative skills with clay. They gain intellectual/cognitive skills from seeing what happens when they wet the clay or let it dry, and seeing the shapes they can make. They are also gaining intellectual/cognitive skills when being asked what they are making, and what they clay feels or sound like, etc.


  2. Sensory would be feeling the clay and being able to see what has been made. It can also be used to tell the difference between hard and soft. (the clay is soft - the cutters used to cut it are hard)

    Cognitively it assists the imagination as you can make anything you like with clay

    It can also help fine motor development as the actions you use when playing with clay use fine motor skills.
