An answer like "skills" or "passion" is an obvious one. I'm asking this question in hopes of getting an answer that goes beyond "skills" or "passion". Tell me what seperates a Kobe from a Kwame or a MJ from a Scott Pollard.

  1. the amount of work they are willing to put in to make sure they and their team accomplishes their goal of wining and being the best.

the best varsity basketball teams of schools where i'm from practice harder than any team i have ever seen. and unfortunately i am not able to be a part of such an amazing experience because i was never strong enough to handle the rigorous work-outs.

i remember back in middle school when the competition was innocent, and i was only playing to have fun. after an explosive season in 8th grade, i decided to take my game to the next level and try out for my high school team.

i played one whole season of junior varsity, and then realized something that would dissappoint myself as well as others. as physically willing as i was to endure the pain of practice, i knew i wasn't strong enough mentally to handle it. in the end i chose to stop playing high school basketball, and start focusing on my grades so that i can invest in something i actually have a future in.

now the only kind of basketball i play is summer league and i play pick-up games as much i can. but every now and then i encounter another dissappointed face telling me i wasted my height and my potential.

i still support my school's bball team. i mean how can i not respect these people when i see the h**l that they go through to get the wins we all desire?

and that my friend is what seperates a superstar from an average player.

(THE WORK THAT THEY ARE WILLING TO PUT IN FOR VICTORIES)

  2. The most important reasons are the two you mentioned above, nobody doubts in it. But this skill or passion are followed by some other things I'm gonna tell you.

First of all, a skilled person can lead a team and in other words, has a better sense of leadership (because of his skills). He/She may be a good captain for the team so the other players believe him/her as a leader.

Self-confidence is another result of having decent skills. A player who believes his/her abilities and thinks he/she can make it to the final, relies on him/herself , that increases the confidence, and causes a player to shine in every game!

Of course skill itself is result of two things: talent and practice. Talent is given to u, but you can gain skills and experience by practicing hard and playing in many games. So a remarkable part of skill, which is the most important characteristic of superstar players itself, is practicing.

  3. kobe good player kwame lame

mj best player pollard dirty player

  4. Media exposures and over rating. And its a fact...

  5. natural skill  hard work..and h**l of a lot of confidence..the superstars are great and they know it

  6. Why IS Kobe better than Kwame? Here is what i Believe.

When any person is born, they are exactly the same skill-wise. But some people have the added benefit of having basketball genes. This is the first building block of a star.

Next come the gene of competitiveness. Does the kid have the heart to want to be the best? Will he be the kind of kid that stays at the gym after practice? will he wake up at 5 in the morning to lift weights?

With that desire, most things are attainable, even athleticism. Yes, some people are just born with athleticism, but you can work to get it.

The last thing, nobody has control over it, is luck. Kobe has never had a BIG injury. Grant Hill on the other hand... Or maybe luck comes in the form of a Scout watching a streetball game that you are in and seeing something he likes.

I hope this is what you were looking for!

  7. Simple!.... You could tell if someone is a superstar type of player coz he is his teammates go-to-guy especially during clutch situations!.... They can make those clutch buckets and if ever their team goes down by as many as 30 points in halftime this guy could be able to closen up the scores or ,much better, win the ball game!.... A superstar could also carry his team on his shoulders!.... Much like LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Keevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Allen Iverson, etc..... They are those players who could be a leader on the court and could lead their team to victory!....
