What setting should i put my coldwater fish filter on?

hiya peeps,i have a coldwater aquarium and am new to fishkeeping so i need everyones good advice.

i have a filter in my tank i have it set on medium but it seems to be to strong for my fish as when they get near it they seem to get swept away (poor things). am i being silly or is this normal?

i just dont like 2 see them getting pushed away by this filter.

oh i no this sounds silly but plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz help lol.x

  1. sounds like the tank is too small or the filter is too big.. but unless it's one of them (proper size tank and an appropriate sized fiter) then they'll adust over time.. the ones at the per store dont have alot of flow so they aren't used to it


  2. It doesn't really matter what setting the filter is on, as long as the GPH (Gallons Per Hour) is ideal. You'll want it to cycle your tank at least 5 times per hour. So if you have a 10 gallon tank then you'll want a filter with no less than 50 GPH. 20 gallons, 100 GPH.

    They don't mind being swept away, as long as they're not very delicate fish.

  3. Oh it's fine fish love to play in filter flows your just being silly(even my snails love the flow too it massages their shells)
