My youngest child has finely flown the nest today (age 26)

I thought I would be pleased , no loud music no dirty washing all over the floor no getting woke up at 4 in the morning , but the house is so quite so empty , why do I feel like this and how long does it take to get used to it.

  1. You're so accustomed having a lot going on around your house. Especially when your son was living with you. Try to do things that occupies you and try not to pay attention to how quiet/calm it is.

  2. Make the most of it Poppet, If like mine, they may have spread their wings and taken flight, but they always come back to roost when it suits them. LOL!

  3. It took me 2 years to get used to an empty nest.

Now they have kids of there own- to keep me busy.

Just think of all the extra time you'll have for Yahoo now.

    LOL

  4. Ah yes, the empty nest syndrome. Now is the time to start devoting more time to your hobbies. If you don't have any, start one (or two).

Or you could get a pet. They're nice to talk to and, depending on what kind of pet you get, they are always ready to lend a sympathetic ear.

How about getting involved in a church group or doing some volunteer work for charity?

These were just a few ideas. I'm sure there are a lot more.
