  1. Yep, buy a Honda or Toyota, they will outlive any other car and cost less to maintain, plus you will get pretty good gas mileage.  All around for someone with limited funds, this is the way to go.

  2. get a fiat punto there brilliant for begginers and there Reliable.there nice little cars and they go at quite a speed (dont drive too fast!!!)they are one ov my fav cars so if i were u id get a fiat punto Good luck!!!

  3. your choice is good go for a small medium car when you can handle that then move over to bigger car, it will be cheap to tax and insure

  4. It depends what type of car you like the most. I am guessing you are from the UK, or i pretty much know so with the fiat punto. My choice of first car over there would be a Peugot 206, and i love it in black. But it's totally up to you, it depends on your budget. Why not check our autotrader? They have a lot of good second hand cars i hear.

  5. you want the lowest group insurance...in uk Vauxhall corsa is a good example of cheap insurance and motoring and is reliable...japanese cars are the best,... but you will find them more expensive as a new driver...However!...Honda Jazz is still on top for the best super mini ...

  6. vauxhall corsa is a good first car, its not too expensive to insure and you can get 1.4 and below which means it wont be too expensive to tax.

a lot of driving instructors use corsa's as learner cars so they must be good. They are also reliable and dont break down too easy. As they are popular cars you can get them at a fairly decent price. they come in a wide range of nice colours too!

  7. You'll never go wrong with a Honda. The Prelude is quite sporty!! Also, a little less pricey are the Hundyia"s (wrong spelling). They come with all kinds of extras. Roadside assistance for like six years, no need for AAA. . Lots of of perks for a new driver. Don't be in such a hurry for a little fast  sporty car. You will have many., many years for things like that.Plus Fiat's are not all that dependable. Happy hunting!!!

  8. Honda Civic or mitsubishi lancer evo that's what i'm getting one of them anyway.

  9. Toyota Corolla. Awesome mileage and dependibility. It seems that they never seem to break for some reason. Trust me, go with a corolla

  10. dodge neon. they're reliable, great on gas, cute, and repairs are reasonably priced.

  11. you should get a truck for a first car then later you can think about getting a sporty car and why i think you should get a truck is because its not as much $ and it doesnt use alot of gas so get a truck

  12. my first car was a 99 accord. it was in really good condition, and it was a quick little car. i loved it + was it already 8yrs old when i got it, so i recommend a honda.

  13. How much do you want to spend? New or used? What do you want from the car? Economical? reliable? Fast? convertable?

  14. Get a metro, there are plenty around with low mileage.

    Cheap insurance, lower tax band.

And fun to drive, plus it doesn't matter so much if you have a prang :)

  15. well, as a first car my parents knew that safety was a priority

due to my driving (and heck, life) inexperience... so, rather than get

a small, "cute" car (i've been dying for a vintage vw beetle since i was a kid), they decided to get me a ford explorer, which is medium-sized SUV (gas was much cheaper back then, hehe)....

    this was good because:

-it allowed me to carpool with all of my friends (we'd split gas)

-let me lug all of my stuff around (i do visual and performance art and always had either tons of thriftstore finds for costumes or found objects, paints, etc for my art pieces)

-and, of course, there was the advantage of not having to go really slowly over bumps, not have to worry about being crushed if in an accident (and there were a few... but not all my fault! hehe), etc.

my vehicle (which came to be known as "the exploder" ...a poor pun attempt for my explorer, hehe.... due to our misadventures!) lasted for over 10 years and we finally had to see it once gas began to peak at over $3.00 a gallon...... which is why i'd recommend a car of the same size, but if you can afford it, go HYBRID (!!), which is good for both your wallet and the environment (i know that there's the ford "escape" hybrid which has been getting fairly good reviews)!

also, check online with various "consumer reports" and "bluebook"

kinds of publications so that you'll know what you're getting yourself into... and, once you've narrowed it down, you can always ask the "yahoo answers" community for our opinion again (maybe some will even have first-hand experience! hehe)

    good lucK !

  16. Definitely a Ford. Escorts are nice for first cars, especially cuz u can get them decently priced if they're used, or if u buy an old enuf year. The Ford Focus is a good choice too.

  17. get a car that will last and some car that not bad on gas and dont get a crappy car just becuase you want a car.

  18. If you want to save money from the gas i would get the hybrid as you can see the gas is very expensive

  19. A MUSTANG OR PORCHE OR MAXIMAS.GOOD LUCK BEING A NEW DRIVER.And Remember Safety Rules!!

  20. a chevy cavalier. they get an estimated 31 mpg and just starting out that's what you want to think of gas mileage and how long it will last. plus they're not bad to look at either like a bug.....who buys those?? oh yeah the parents of teenage girls.

  21. Fiat Punto is good, maybe a Toyota Yaris 1.0 litre (if you can afford it) would be good as it is only a group 1 insurance.

  22. Dont get a punto, I have a grande punto as my first car and I really dont rate it.

Best are ford fiesta, Toyota Yaris or a clio, have a look on which or auto trader they let u know the most common fault with the cars.

  23. You did not say a budget that you wanted to stick to.

I would say for a first car dont spend more than £1000 because the insurance will sting you!

    Renult Clio

    Peugot 106

    Fiat Panda

    Fiat Punto

    Ford Fiesta

    Ford KA

    Vauxhall Corsa

You can get all these for less than £1000 from places like the auto trader.

    Hope this helps

I had a black 1.9 Diesel Renault Clio L Reg (4 years ago)

I loved it we called it the Bat Clio!

  24. First of all, it depends on how much money you wish to spend.

As a rule no one wants to throw money away.

This is why I would suggest an European car.

    I personally drive a Renault Logan. I think it's a good option.

Better than the Punto. It packs a 1,6 litre/16valves engine that delivers 115HP and is less than 12000 USD brand new.

There's also Hyundai Accent, KIA Rio, KIA Cee'd, Hyundai i10 or i30, Renault Modus,Clio, Megane or Scenic.

Or a Honda Prius, Civic... Toyota Aygo or Auris...

Greatly recommend Suzuki SX4, with 4WD....

Or Hyundai Tucson. One of the smalles SUV's...

Don't forget Opel Astra, Vectra or Insignia.

Ford Fusion or Focus (C-Max may also be an option but it's larger).

    Chevrolet Spark, Aveo, Lacetti....

    Volkswagen Golf, Jetta or Passat...

Large range... make YOUR choice. Drive test them... count your money... and then buy the one you like!

Most of the above give great gas mileage and can offer a full range of options, and come with a lot of standard stuff...

Try and when you're satisfied... BUY!

Some people would advise an old car... Just to learn on an old carcass and scrap it after you learned and bumped it in the process...

I think that a new car helps the inexperienced and I can back my choice since I too as a beginner had a brand new car. It was easier to learn on that than on a scrap heap... Good luck!

  25. get some kind of honda because you can have those for a long time, good gas mileage, and the resale value on them is probably the best out of any car.

  26. Fiat Punto is perfect!

Its cheap, reliable and looks good on the road.

My sister had one as her first car and she really liked it and it has made her into an experienced driver!

You could also go for Vauxhall Corsa, Toyota Yaris and Citroen C3..these are small cars and are perfect for first cars.

  27. Look at the Mazda 3.  Its a good car, safer than a fiat, cheaper to insure and good on maintenance.  Its a car that will last for a while.

  28. get a cheapie.

for your first car... its your first experience driving..

and you never know whats going to happen you might crash..

a ... alero oldsmobile... ha... my friend has that... she's ****** in the head

  29. either a chevrolet or 2009 mazda 3 or mitsubishi safe and great prices and also it looks good!

  31. Dont get a bug they are not good went it comes to safety. perhaps a journey we have one and it works great! It cute and runs well good air conditioning. It's from Doge . Pd. they all so give you a 89 percent discount on gas foe 2 years
