  1. They make very mild shampoos for small animals such as ferret, guinea pigs, rabbits, etc.

They're pretty cheap and you can get them at any pet store.

And they usually smell good :)

  2. Try cat shampoo or if thats too much, baby shampoo

  3. Pert works great

  4. It's best to check with a Pet Store, so you won't use something that dries the skin out.

  5. You cannot use human OR baby shampoo on ferrets they are much too harsh for the PH level in ferrets skin. It is best not only bathe once or twice a year otherwise this can cause your ferret to over produce oils it lost during the bath which will make it much more stinky. If you are going to use anything make sure it is all natural containing no synthetic (fake) ingredients. I would like to buy these products for my ferrets.

  6. First off, ferrets only need to be bathed about once or twice a year.  Bathe them any more than that and their bodies produce more oil which actually INCREASES their odor.  It also is very drying to their skin.  If you think your ferrets are smelly odds are the bedding in the cage needs to be washed or you'll not cleaning the litter boxes often enough.  I hope you educated yourself enough about ferrets before getting this one to know that you don't put small animal bedding in a ferret's cage.  Not only does it absorb odors but some products - like the cedar chips - are very harmful to ferrets.

Secondly, if $9 is expensive to you why do you have a ferret?  Ferrets are VERY expensive pets.  They're prone to lots of diseases - adrenal disease, insulinoma, cardiomyopathy, lymphoma.  These disease can show up as early as 2 years old and with ferret vets few and far between vet bills can be enormous.

I really think you need to think about the fact that you might not be able to care for this ferret as it ages if $9 is a lot of money to you.

  7. You can also use a kitten or (human) baby shampoo. Ferrets don't need a lot of baths (mine get no more than two a year), so those little bottles might seem expensive, but they should last you awhile.

  8. johnson baby shampoo, very gentle

  9. i use oatmeal kitten shampoo on mine. i like their skin to be moisturized. though i only bathe them once or twice yearly. unless they get into something that is.

  10. Dove maybe. You would want the natural kind that doesn't have any scent to it. I would also call a vet and ask them.... a pet store would know.

  11. If you are concerned about price, then why do you have a ferret? Anyway, a baby shampoo *might* do the trick.
