  1. most of the shops in "le marais" the g*y area are open on sunday.

  2. Typically in France, all shops are closed on Sunday. Because it's Paris and touristy, you are likely to find a few shops open, namely supermarkets (or small corner shops owned by foreigners) and tourist shops. I'm not sure for hours; I really think it could vary.

I'm in Alsace-I know of one supermarket open Sunday from 9-12.

  3. Normally, all stores are required to close on Sunday by law. There are exceptions, one is being in certain designated tourist areas, which include a lot of Paris.

Stores usually close at 7pm but in smaller areas and on Sundays, it can be 6. A lot of bakeries are open on Sunday morning, to catch those coming out of church. Also, some flower shops open because people often visit for Sunday lunch and the guests need to buy them fresh.

Don't plan on doing any major shopping on Sundays but if you're in Paris, and you run out of something, chances are, you can find somewhere open selling it close by.

  4. The mall at the Carroussel du Louvre is open 7 days a week from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. There are 45 stores there: http://en.carrouseldulouvre.com/vue/form... (site in English)

Here are two sites in French listing stores open on Sundays:

    http://www.linternaute.com/paris/shoppin...

Click on each of the 5 districts (pictures) and it will give you a list of stores and their opening hours. There are 3 pages for each district (mode, loisirs, pratique) so don't forget to click on the "suivante" arrow.

    http://www.magasins-paris.com/magasins-o...

Below the picture you'll find the arrondissement it's in. If you click on the picture you'll get more info including business hours.

Otherwise every café and tourist store in the most touristic districts  (like Montmartre for instance) will be open.

  5. I spent a Sunday shopping in Paris and I walked down boulevard Richard Lenoir and went to the Bastille Square Market and had the best paella and then headed into the Marais to shop.  The shops were open there all the way through Centre Pompidou.
