My niece is really nervous about going to the doctors for a physical. She really hates getting shots. I told her that I didn't know if she was getting a shot or not. So what shots do you get when you are between 14-16 years old?? Thanks!!

  1. By 14 all of her vaccinations should be complete. As long as she has had her tetanus, DTaP booster, and meningitis vaccines at age 12 (the normal age) then the only shot I would recommend it Gardisil. If she has not gotten any of the shots listed above then she will need to get them. Especially the vaccine for meningitis. Meningitis is a disease with flu like symptoms that can actually cause a child to die within 24 hours of showing symptoms. Children age 11-21 are very susceptible. Even if a child gets vaccinated when they are 11 they should have a booster vaccine right before they begin college especially if they are going to be living in a dorm.

  2. I got my meningitis and HPV shot.

    I'm 15.

Or if you're late for any vaccines, you'll get those too.

    Like polio and stuff.

  3. There are no required ones at that age, but she may need a tetanus booster, and the doctor may recommend (if she hasn't already had it) Gardisil (to prevent cervical cancer), meningitis vaccine, and/or the HepA vaccine.

  4. well, when i turned 14 in july and went to the doctors, that day, i had to get the 1st gardisal (cancer one) and a meninjitis (sp.?? lol) and then in 2 months i have to get the 2nd cancer one and a tetnus and then 2 months after that, the 3rd and final cancer one!

    i hate shots tooo!!!

  5. When I was 14, I got my tetanus shot.

That was the worst shot EVER.

    I absolutely hate needles.

All you can really tell her is to not look at the needle.

That's what my mom told me.

I didn't look at it, but I still felt it.

And it didn't hurt all that much.

    So it was all okay.

  6. I got a tetnus and meningitis shot. The meningitis shot is optional but really urged because you'll need it for college so its better to get it out the way.

  7. 1. tetnus if needed

    2. meningitis

    3. flu if needed(high risk)

    4. the one less shots if you choose to have to get them, but my insurance wont cover them so my parents arent going to get them for me.

  8. Generally, just a tetanus booster - I was supposed to get mine then but didn't, because there was a shortage of the vaccine at the time, but a horse chewed up my hand a month or two afterwards so in the end I got it at more or less the right time. Also, optionally, she can get Meningitis, Hepatitis B, or the HPV vaccine (although the HPV vaccine will require follow-up shots) which she'll likely need anyways for college, and she should get Hepatitis B and HPV if she's likely to become sexually active before her next appointment.

  9. Maybe a tetanus ?   Kids that age are usually fully vaccinated already.

  10. tetanus meningitis and i think hepatitis
