  1. Were Aussie so take the p**s... sing waltzing matilda and stumble around completely sh*t faced... Or you know just yawn and look at your watch... hahaha jokes

  2. They should feel honored to be considered a worthy adversary by the Kiwis.  They should show respect, acknowledge the haka for what it is (a challenge), and perhaps may even want to return the favor with a chant, call, actions,... (something creative and appropriate), if they feel that it would be in the best interest of their team.  What they should never do is to mock, that would just be poor form.

  3. little of both but what do i know i'm not australian

  4. They should laugh out loud and show that there is no fear at all, I do recall a game where Australia did want to do something, I forget what it was , but they were'nt allowed to do it

  5. I think that Australian players should respect the fact that the Kiwis are prepared to do anything for their country.

  6. show respect,not fear!

  7. I'm Australian but realy dig the kiwi culture.Aust realy has no culture as such but i guess they could do the macerena....

  8. The Australian team has turned their back on a haka before but that's probably not the best way to go. I think Australia should develop its own aboriginal-inspired haka and throw the challenge back at the Kiwis.

  9. Well i would say show respect if the dance wasnt so funny!

  10. Show sum respect 4 their traditions

  11. They should acknowledge with silence and respect and then answer with their own version of a haka. Perhaps "aussie, aussie, aussie, oi oi oi" in a fearsome and menacing manner but somehow I don't think that will work.

  12. quiver in fear, and then lose the game- thats what the australians should do.

go the kiwis tonight. benji and sonny bill are gonna smash those aussies.

  13. the australians should show respect as they would do the same for our song

  14. Respect it, but don't care much about it

  15. I really dont know but could we possibly stop singing Waltzing Matilda afterwards? It was a great idea when it first started, an a few cheeky members of the audience were singing it, but when they started to make a big deal of it and even got John Williamson in to sing at some of the bigger matches it just got so lame! Its like going out on a date with Pamela Anderson and then being kissed goodnight by your grandmother

  16. We could do our own version and call it the "Haka Pokey". You put your right leg in....

  17. put extra sausages on the barbie cause our neighbours are over

  18. SHOW RESPECT OF COURSE.

  19. They must look behind them, because the Springboks(South Africa) will beat the h**l out of them!!!!!!!!!

  20. i think that too. i watch the kiwis do there thing to us every international match. the best thing to do is beat them sideway! i mean, kick there butts all the way to 2008! i think they will respect us, especially in union footy, if we can beat them more than they do us.

you still have to respect it for it's a war dance and you know they back up those actions on the field.

  21. Of course it should be watched with respect.( but that's not to say we shouldn't stare them down and let em know they are in for a fight...lol). You know I have a white dad of Irish convict stock...yay dad..and an Aboriginal mum. Our culture is almost gone and there are not many on the whole throughout the country that know and practise their songs and dances including their war dances. I always feel so envious that they have their culture to hold on to and that it's embraced by all their citizens. You only have to watch them to see the pride all Kiwi's feel. Their country is far more tolerant and mature when it comes to their Indigenous heritage. I reckon it would be pretty great to see our guys do a traditional Aboriginal War dance to rival the Hakka, especially with all the talented Aboriginal players now making their mark on the game. There is enough stupidity going on in our game now. So for me Respect for each other and the game itself is definitely the way to go.

To the person above..I think its all a bit tongue in cheek as in they take their game seriously and the war is on...I don't think it' meant to be anything offencive or political. It's wonderful that the whole of their population embrace their traditions, they all live their now so why not be proud of their country and it's heritage irrespective of their colour..

  22. "I find it bizarre that the European descent Kiwis are even allowed to do the Haka which culturally belongs to the Maori people not Euros. Also it is a war dance not a sport dance so it hardly seems appropriate at all in a sporting context. Particularly as we are allies of NZ not enemies as the large numbers of Kiwis in our country must be glad of. "

The country is still a part of them, however, and being an Asian Kiwi in Australia, I feel that it's my dance too. Oh yeah, laugh if you want - the people are the land, and the land are the people, whatever their skin colour. The European Kiwis respect the difference between the Maori and perform this dance for them - the Australians should acknowledge that bond.

And as for the Haka itself? Sure, it's a war dance, but the chant is a challenge. Bring it on, Aussies.

  23. Well usually the Australian teams stop and take a moment of respect. It is a very old Maori war dance, and we love seeing it. It definitely brings out the passion of the game doesn't it !!

  24. Respect it.

Only a handful of colonized countries still practice thier indiginous customs in everyday life.

More is the pity that the Original Australian Citizens do not show a Haka for international Sport. It would be a fantastic tribute to the almost destroyed Aboriginal history of this ancient country.

I am Irish and I live is Australia. I feel a certain connection with the history of both our countries. Centuries of maltreatment, oppression, pillaging, rape, stealing of our lands and the demagogy of both our Heritages.

    My two cents

  25. Its a tradition that they have always followed.

They do it as part of their culture. I think its fantastic to watch and people should feel proud that they want to show off their culture to the public.

You don't have to be disrespectful and turn your backs on them. Just watch and learn, you may find you enjoy what you see!

  26. laugh so hard the bust their ribs and cant play the game. then when they se a replay laugh againand undo all the treatment.

then get a flock of aboriginals on the field to throw spears at the kiwis

  27. Wear acubra's onto the field and raise them to the Kiwis at the end of the haka.

  28. laugh at them cause the dance is stupid!!!!

    hahahahahha

  29. Stand there and respect it.

  30. I think the Aussie's should make up their own haka, lets see we are mostly  english and irish decendants, how about doing a river dance  around some sheep whilst singing god save the queen..Seriously, The haka should be repected for what it is, traditionally outstanding and always passed on from generation.. Go Kiwi's

  31. Show respect. Maybe the Aussies should consider doing a Dreamtime Show too...............
