Mick has always said not all players are equal, so will Shaw get rubbed out or do they sweep it under carpet with a BIG game this week

  1. its stupid, they should suspend him like every other club does to the misbehaving players

  2. Explanation please?

  3. they are going to let him play on saturday but they should not.

  4. I don't barrack for Collingwood, as regular readers would know, but I admire Heath Shaw as a very personable and able young footballer - I met him at a sports night a couple of years back and have followed his excellent on-field performances this year. He's probably the best player the Woods have on a week to week basis.

He's not a rookie and he has the examples of Darren Millane, and current players being suspended, constantly before him, according to the club publicity. Being done for .05 is just not in the same class as redecorating the police station wall or having a verbal with a barman - Shaw could easily have killed someone, including himself.

Perhaps the clubs should get together and make an AFL rule that anyone done for a serious driving offence - speeding or drink/drugs - should serve a week's automatic suspension for the offence itself plus another week for each 10k or .01 over the limit - thus someone blowing .07 gets three weeks(don't know how they measure drug levels).

And if Eddie and Mick dodge the issue because Shaw is their best player, they lose all cred!

  5. WHY!? He should have known better than that! Argh, they play **** footy, and on top of it they get caught for drink driving! He probably will get punished now (as he should). Great timing, huh? Just before our seaon 'defining' game!

EDIT: Didak was not in the car, just to let you know. And Shaw hasn't been suspended, only fined, which even I think is ridiculous! Collingwood have to show that they can punish the players. Heath should have been more responsible!

EDIT 2: CAN THINGS GET ANY WORSE? Dids was in the car! And I agree with Macca, I did not like the way that Burns handled the issue at all.

  6. Put him in a pipe and smoke him.

  7. well i am a one eyed supporter and he should be dealt with but i do not agree with some of things  that are said we are not the only team that has done this  and whether or not if heath plays on the weekend we will stayed in the eight  i have much faith in the magpies. and i am sure that eddie and co will deal with this matter and not sweep it under a rug .

  8. The leadership group will just give him the usual 1 game ban.And maybe a small fine.

  9. Send him home to Uncle Tony!!

  10. What they should do with Shaw is not what the club did.

They are the biggest mob of hypocrites in Oz. What more can one expect from the decision makers at Collingwood when one sees what their fans are like.

They encourage this sort of behaviour - if not encourage they at least condone it.

The fans bay for blood if a player from another club does something wrong but their players can do as they please without punishment - just look at Didak for instance.

  11. Being a WCE supporter this is a subject that is close to the heart. (That is, players behaving badly)

I would hope that Collingwood don't pull their usual stunt with a broom and some carpet and instead make an example of a player for a change. To let him get away with it coz of who he is would be irresponsible. (And Malthouse is a complete goose for saying such a thing).Take a leaf out of Geelongs book and hit him hard with a suspension.

I can only wonder what could have been had the WCE ignored the fact that it was Cuzzy and just stepped in sooner. We may not be in the trouble we are today. And for those who think that just because Heath Shaw's drug of choice was "just Alcohol',  please think again. The damaging effects of alcohol abuse are as far reaching in society as illegal drugs.

Grow some dangly bits Eddie and co, suspend him and show the fans of football that that kind of behaviour will not be tolerated no matter who you are and who you play for. There has been much talk about footballers as role models since the WCE debacle and we now have a club that can set a good, positive example for young fans of footy.

    Time will tell I guess.....

EDIT: Well, time has told and let me say PATHETIC PATHETIC PATHETIC. (and some other words but I don't want to get any more violation notices) May Collingwood now rot outside of the 8 for the rest of the year.

  12. We need him!!!!!!!! hes an idiot for drinking and driving but we still need him! if they take him out then collingwood is screwed.

  13. Heath Shaw should be suspended immediately and for a long time. The Collingwood club should also receive a very stiff penatly from the AFL for failing to adequately train/inform their players about THE LAW and their obligations to it. This is not the first time Collingwood players have run foul of the dirnk-drive laws. Collingwood FC has a long and very ignoble history of drink-drive players - remember Darren Millane!!!!! and the devastating effect his drunken rampage had on the community.

  14. They should do nothing, because its got nothing to do his football career

  15. I am not sure about Burns' reaction here.

As a leader you praise publicly and admonish in private

The argument that you should not punish the team and the supporters don't wash to well with me.

  16. Heath Shaw is not good enough to play AFL any way

  17. As usual we will just give him a fine & do nothing else.

Collingwood has a long history of looking after players who sin. Mick Malthouse has come out in public & said the higher profile players are not dealt with very hard as he doesn't want the team to suffer.

All other teams, bar Collingwood, suspend players for breaching club policies & rules. And in relation to Didak - isn't it compulsory for him to accompany every Pies player who gets into trouble?
