  1. Create an ambience. Surround the dining area with scented candles, dim the lights, and scatter rose petals on the table. Keep it tasteful, and coordinated. One way to do this is by optimizing simplicity. Decorate with simple colors, utensils, and dinnerware. Even plain colored plates can be dressed up with food and garnish. You want to avoid looking tacky in any way.

Print a menu in 's**y' font (e.g. Monotype Corsiva), and slip it into a place where your loved one is bound to find it at work such as a briefcase. If you prefer it to be a surprise, just place a menu card on the table. Don't forget to add "1000 kisses" to the Dessert section!

Dress appropriately for cooking - "appropriate" meaning your best underwear, and an apron... or just the apron.

Keep utensil use to a minimum so you can proceed to more exciting activities after dinner rather than spending hours cleaning up. The fool-proof recipes below should help minimize dishwashing.

Give yourself at least two hours to cook and get dressed (only if you'd rather not stay in your apron).

Three course meals are the simplest yet lavish enough if you use the richest ingredients, and correct techniques. The menu below is one of the easiest to follow, and yet the results are delicious. One thing to note before you start: ancient people once found seafood, chocolate, and spicy foods to be aphrodisiacs, so make the most of it!

    Prawn Cocktail

    ...with Spicy Marinara dip

    Rosemary Chicken

    ...stuffed with mushrooms

    Vanilla bean Gelato

...with Passion fruit coulis & wafer

    1st course

    8 fresh prawns

    1 cup Marinara sauce

    2 celery stalks

    1 tbsp Tabasco sauce

    Cilantro to garnish

First, peel the prawn skins leaving the last segment and tail (mainly for presentation).

Boil water in a medium-sized pot/steamer. Place prawns in the steamer and steam for three minutes or less until the prawns are just-cooked to maintain flavor. Place cooked prawns in a bowl of ice water for 15 seconds. Remove, and keep in the refrigerator to cool.

In a clean bowl, mix Marinara sauce with Tabasco sauce. Carefully scoop mixture into two Martini glasses until half full.

Place four prawns around the rim of each glass. And finally, garnish with remaining stalks of celery and cilantro.

    2nd course

    2 slices chicken breast

    ½ cup button mushrooms

    ½ onion

    1 tbsp butter

    Salt and pepper

    4 sprigs rosemary

    2 tsp dried thyme

    Preheat oven 350 degrees F

Rub chicken b*****s with salt, then set aside.

In a medium saucepan, sauté onions and mushrooms with butter. Add thyme. Season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat.

Gently slice b*****s lengthwise in half, and stuff with sautéed ingredients. Add half of the rosemary sprigs into the stuffing.

Bake in a glass dish for 30 minutes.

Remove rosemary sprigs from chicken before serving.

Garnish plate with remaining rosemary sprigs.

    3rd course

    4 scoops vanilla bean gelato

    2 thin Belgium wafer cookies

    1 Passion fruit

    1 tsp sugar

On a cutting board, slice the passion fruit in two and scoop out the pulp into a bowl. It should be runny with visible seeds. Do not throw the seeds away; as they are the key ingredients of the fruit. Add sugar to the pulp and mix thoroughly.

Scoop the gelato and place onto plates. Then gently spoon the passion fruit coulis over the gelato.

Add a final touch by sticking a thin Belgium wafer cookie onto the gelato

    OR

    Easy Crab Rangoon

1--8 oz.package cream cheese  2 dashes of tabasco sauce

1--8 oz.package Neufchatel cheese dash of *Nuoc Mam (fish sauce use SPARINGLY)

    1--tablespoon finely

chopped green onion 1--tablespoon minced garlic

1/4 cup chopped green onion tops 1--8 0z. package imitation crab thinly sliced

2 packages Spring Roll wraps or the rounded Japanese style Gyoza kind.

Unwrap cheeses and place in mixing bowl to warm to room temprature. In a small bowl put a little bit of water or a beaten egg white to seal the edges of the rangoon after putting in your filling. I cut my spring roll wraps into halves down the diagonal to make a triangular shape. This makes them easy to handle for eating, giving them an "edge" to hold. The round skins make a nice rangoon as well.

After the cheeses have warmed, add in the garlic, onions, green onion tops. Combine, then add two dashes of tabasco sauce, pinch of ginger, small dash of fish sauce and again combine. Finally add your chopped or thinly sliced imitation crab.

Place one to two teaspoons of this mixture in the center of your wrap. Fold over edges, sealing with the water or egg whites.

Heat cooking oil in a large frying pan or wok. Use enough oil so that it is about an inch deep in a frying pan, over medium heat.

Fry until golden brown on one side and turn, frying on the other side until a light golden brown. Remove from pan with slotted sppon and place on paper towels to drain.

Serve immediately. These can be kept warm in an oven set at 325 for about a half hour before serving without much noticible "sogginess" setting in.

A delicious dipping sauce for the rangoon~~ one quarter cup fish sauce, one quarter cup water. Stir in one teaspoon sugar and add chili garlic sauce to taste.

Serve with a fresh garden salad. For added variety in the salad, add sliced water chestnuts, the canned kind will do, be sure to drain well prior to placing in salad, and/or thinly sliced blanched almonds, or blanched skinless peanuts. For dessert, serve a chilled fruit cocktail with oriental fruits added in. Lychees in syrup (drain syrup before adding) longans, or fresh unsweetened pineapple or pineapple chunks.

*Fish Sauce is available in the Oriental Foods section of larger grocery stores or an Asian Grocer. Chili/garlic paste or sauce can be made by mincing two whole cloves fresh garlic with several (3 or 4) small fresh red chili peppers.

  2. If your over 21, Penne ala vodka is awesome!

  3. Try something light, avoid any red meats. They make you feel bloated and not very romantic. A good choice would be focaccia bread for dipping in garlic olive oil as appetizer, and a small mixed greens salad tossed with oil and vinegar. Dinner can be chicken piccata with pasta, paired with a nice wine like Pinot Grigio. Desert can be some type of gelato, or yourself.

  4. boil some king crab legs, melt unsalted butter for dipping, serve lemon wedges with dinner, make rice pilaf and asparagus...total cook time 35 min... you're a super star

  5. A salmon dinner is always elegant and not too pretentious. An easy way is to mix a little brown sugar, soy sauce, lemon juice, garlic and ginger and brush it over a salmon fillet, place the fillet on an aluminum covered baking sheet and broil for 8-12 minutes, depending on how you like it done. With wild rice and a steamed vegetable, it is an easy, healthy, delicious meal that always pleases.

  6. probably some nice lasagna or even u know italian food, but make sure its only something u like thats the best thing

  7. Cherry Glazed Chicken b*****s:

    1 can cherry pie filling

    4 boneless chicken b*****s

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Place the chicken b*****s in a glass baking pan that has been sprayed with a non-stick cooking spray like Pam. Spoon just enough of the cherry pie filling over the chicken to cover lightly. Place pan into oven and cook for 1 hour and 15 minutes spreading more of the pie filling over the chicken every 15 minutes.

This is very easy and you get a nice moist chicken breast. This also works well for Cornish game hens and pork chops. Serve with rice pilaf or roasted or mashed potatoes and a steamed veggie like whole green beans or broccoli or corn.

  8. Your boyfriend rocks! Its hard to get a man to do that. He must really like you, or feel that he is a good cook with something to prove. Dont try to oneup the guy, if he likes to cook I say let him, and order in some takeout that is very expensive and discuss why you did it over the food wearing your best dress, candles and whatnot.  You might persuade him to do it again!

that's one approach. you could also spend all day slaving away over something intricate. If you must cook, I suggest you do something you know how to do, and do well. Stew? roast? whats the thing you usually like to eat that you make yourself? (no Hot Pockets)  seriously, if you have something you have made successfully in the past for anyone else and you like it too, I would try that. not all women are born to cook.  if your mother is around she might be able to suggest something you did well when you were a kid and had to cook.  its more about the ambiance than the food

  9. Can you give us a hint as to what his favorite things might be?

  10. This is what you will need.

2 peices of Tilapia per person

baby carrots, bag of fresh spinach, an onion, a lemon, some green olives, brown rice.

for dessert one box of devil food cake mix and 15 ozs can of pumpkin

    For the fish:

Season flour and coat fish (no eggs or milk)

In a oiled and heated skillet add the fish and do not turn for 5 minutes each side. After fish is cooked ...With the oil that is left over add lemon juice (one lemon) and then add chopped onion, and carrots ( I add chopped aspargus sometimes) and then add huge hand fulls of spinach... and cook them really fast until heated but not soft. Chop up some fresh green olives to garnish.

Plate the food as follows: A scoop of cooked brown rice then a scoop of veggies and then two golden peices of fish with green olive crmbles on top of the fish. It will look like your a great cook.

dessert: large glass bowl, add 15 oz can of pumpkin and then add a box of devils food cake mix and stir with a fork until completely mixed and then put it in muffin tins and bake for 20 minutes at 350. Do not add any other liquids. You can add a hand ful of nuts and coconut if you like and it will not change anything. (serve with ice cream like its a peice of cake)

You will have an excellent main dish and dessert that are healthy and low glycemic index.
