I live in the United States (South-east) and I'm really wanting to attend a school in Canada after I graduate. What steps should I take to prepare to do this?

  1. Hi. The website below provides you with all the information you need to apply to Canadian schools as an American. You'll find everything from search engines to find your school --- the documentation needed --- guides and tips --- and even a suggested packing list! If you have any questions after reviewing the website, you can ask via the feedback form and they'll get back to you almost immediately. Good luck!

  2. Canada really isn't that different from the US.  They use British spelling, so words like "color" are spelled "colour", they use the metric system, and by law all packaging must be in both English and French.

If you do know French, and are going to be visiting Quebec, remember that the local dialect there, Quebecois, is quite different from the French used in France, muchless taught in classrooms.

Otherwise, I'd brush up on my geography, world events, and of course, Canadian history.  It's a common stereotype that Americans are quite self-centered and uneducated about anything outside their borders.  At least be able to name the providences, and know who the prime minister is :-)

  3. Canada is right next door not overseas. Learn to like bacon, cheese, maple syrup and say 'eh a lot. Be aware of the polar bears and all the lumberjacks! I think they have a high school there now but not sure.
