I think mine is infected or something. I am up looking over my insurance stuff to see how much it would cost but it just gives me a brainache. I've heard from some people medical covers it and others saying dental. I've looked at both and can't figure it out.

  1. if your dentist tells you that the wisdom teeth needs to come out due to infection then the dental insurance will cover it. look to see what kind of treatment your insurance covers but theyre ussually pretty good about covering preventive procedures, such as fillings, extractions, etc

  2. If the tooth is removed at the Dentists it is normally part of the dental coverage.  If it is removed by a Dental surgeon and you are twilight or out, then that should be covered by your general insurance.

You should be able to ask your dentist office for an expected quote for the procedure based on your insurance.

If they don't cover it, you might want to look at Ameriplan and see if your Dentist or surgeon accepts it.  $14.95/month for an individual DentalPlus policy and you save up to 80% depending on the work you have done.  Again they should be able to give you a quote.
