I assume you're talking about food since you're in this category....you might want to find out what the menu is and then offer to bring one of the things they planned on. That way you don't bring a steak and they're planning on hot dogs. Good choices in case they say just bring anything are side dishes like potato salad (be sure to keep it nice and cold), watermelon, fruit salad, corn on the cob, etc.

Have a lot of fun and don't forget the sun  screen.
