  1. The most important thing you can take is water, water, and more water.  High energy snacks to eat on the trail.  Beef jerky.  Be sure to let someone know where you are and when you plan to be back.

  2. WATER!!!!There are noodles that come in little baggies or plates and all you have to do is heat up the water and they are ready.Any kind of noodles like the instant ones.

Campbell chicken noodle soup.they are ready to go all you have to do is open them.

You can take powder milk(unless you are lactose intolerant).

and you know cereal last a while.

    Warm clothes for the night.

  3. VERY THOUROUGH!

Don't forget to tell your credit card companies you will be on vacation. Also, one of those plastic over the door shoe holders are wonderful for holding all of your stuff.

  5. more people !!!

  6. When are you going?  And where?  It is a huge canyon.  Right now it is hot hot hot below the rim.  So make sure your water filter is in good condition, and don't leave your hat and sunscreen behind.  Since you are only going to be in a couple nights, I assume you will be in the corridor trails and there will be water to purify where you camp.  But you should carry a minimum of a gallon with you when you venture out along with a electrolite and/or fluid replacement drink.  Carry salty things to eat.  Gorp, power bars, dry salami, etc.  It is Monsoon season too so some wicked storms might come through.  Be sure to have rainproof gear.  Otherwise, plan like you would for any backcountry trip. If this is your first trip below the rim, the park service sent you a DVD. Watch it.

  7. take easy microwave food like noodles and soup. aslo granola bars and corn chips to keep your energy up. don´t forget dried fruit!! like crasins or plums. take gatorade or just water. tons of it!!

don´t foget good shoes, shorts, a rain coat and a hat!! or a flash light, pen, lighter, toilet paper, sunscrean, bug spray, phone, radio, and those sticks people use to hike. have fun!!
