Question:

What should I build for my backyard?

I bought a new house and have an almost featureless backyard. There are lilacs along one side, but otherwise - nothing. What are some ideas to build back there? Ex: built-in barbecue, jacuzzi, stone lanterns. Anything you think would be awesome to have in a backyard. I want to gather as many ideas as possible.

Possibly helpful information: no kids of my own; nieces and nephews visit sporadically; prefer low maintenance

  1. I would make a stone patio with a pergola over it, covered in vines. Depending on where you live you could grow grapes or kiwis or other fruit up on the pergola. The vines would provide cool shade in the summer and yummy fruit in the late summer or fall!

  2. NEW HOUSE NEW IDEAS-FRUIT TREES-APPLE, PEACH,CONCORD GRAPES. YOU CAN BUY FRUIT TREES THAT HAVE BEEN GRAFTED TO PRODUCE THREE KINDS OF APPLES,PEACHES. AND BUILD AN ARBOR FOR THE GRAPES

  3. a top shelf patio would be a nice addition

  4. hmm, a nice water feature for you to look at, after trying to put in a patio, barbeque out one side, may be high maintenance to start off with, no major repairing work, create a garden bed, put roses around one part of the yard by the fence, then whatever you think you need
