I live in a very nice house here in florida, in December my baby is due, I will be moving in Feb. to another house. Should I buy a crib now or a bassinet. I was thinking to buy a bassinet now and a crib when I move.

  1. I've never been a fan of Bassinets, and you can't use them for long. My oldest son when he was a week old got his finger nail caught in the netting structure of one of those and completely ripped his finger nail off. I know that was just one type of bassinet but I never liked them since.

With my youngest son I got a nice playpen set up and kept that next to my bed before I got the crib. There are some awesome ones out there that are great for newborns and are really cute.

This is the one I have:

"bassinet, changing station, and play yard all in one. The perfect height changer includes a diaper organizer for easy access to changing supplies"

Not a bad price either, and you could always use a playpen later for when the child gets older. I still use mine for nap times and my son is 2.

    I like this one too:

    and it's even cheaper.

    * I also stored extra blankets and supplies in the bottom playpen part.

  2. if you have the money get the bassinet now and the crib when you move.  you will probabably want the baby to sleep with you for the first 3 months and so a bassinett will be easy for the baby to sleep in the room with you.  Then after about 3-6 months you will want to move the baby to a crib.  by then, you will have moved.

  3. Depends on how much you want to spend - a bassinet can only be used for the first couple of months and then she/he will be too big so you would need a crib eventually.

  4. That depends...when is your baby going to be born? If it will be born shortly before February, I would say your plan sounds great. If it's going to be born in the next couple months or so, I'd go ahead and get the crib. A newborn will outgrow a bassinet pretty quickly.

  5. I would say bassinet, cribs are a pain to put together, take apart, and then put together again.  But, instead of a traditional basinet, have you thought about a pack-n-play?  They have bassinet attachments and can turn into a travel crib as baby gets bigger (my 17 month old still sleeps in in when we travel, and just for naps at my in-laws!).  They easily collapse and are to too big to be stored.

  6. I find bassinets to be a waste of money.  Instead I bought a play pen with the bassinet attachment.  Fisher price makes a cute rainforest one that I love.  My daughter slept in the bassinet part for her first 5 months and then moved to the crib and now she can use the play pen for what it was intended for.

  7. I would buy one of those safe and secure sleepers where the baby could sleep on the bed with you, in it's own little safe cozy tray-like thing. That way you get the benefits of co-sleeping without the worry and the baby will still learn to sleep near you, but on her own. Then get the crib when you move. Or you could get a pack n play right now to keep beside your bed. it has a built in bassinet, and you could use the rest as a playpen later.

  8. im not a big fan of bassinets cuz it just seems like the baby grows out of them too fast but i do like the pack n plays cuz they convert to a bassinet and you can use them longer. so i would buy one of those and then buy a crib later.

  9. i would say the bassinet for know and the crib when you move.
