I already know what sights I'm going to see, but are there any items that you can only get in France that would be interesting to bring back to America to wear/use/share, etc?

  1. Chocolate bread (pain au chocolate) is a great idea but buy it the day you leave (in the morning), wrap it up well, put it into a box (so it wont get smooshed).  It's the best!

also: cheeses, sausages, perfumes, clothing, shoes, scarves, leather goods, antiques, books (old ones).  Check out the antique markets on Saturdays!  You'll find some very cool gift items there!

  2. Wines and perfumes would be nice, I agree.  And definately invest in some baguettes and chocolates or treats at a patisserie!

All I'd like to add is that if you are going to a certain region, perhaps you'd like to buy products unique to that region.  For example if you are going to Normandy, by all means purchase some camenbert cheese.  Each region is known for certain things - it could be wines, cheese, sausage, glass, leather, cider - you name it!.  Check with the tourist office in your area.

  3. Buy something that  can't being eaten or use. buy something that will remind you of the fun you had in france and of all those wonderful memories.
