Question:

What should I clean when?

I have severe A.D.D. and am on medicine for it. I have trouble cleaning (it's hard to get my husband to help). What I need to start doing is making lists for myself around the house.

We live in a two bedroom townhome with a partially finished basement.

So we have a master bedroom

A secondary bedroom (our computer/craft room)

1 bathroom

Living room

Kitchen

Partially finished basement.

I need some lists of what I should clean daily in each room what I should clean weekly and what I can get away with once or twice a month.

Any help is appreciated!

  1. What I usually do is clean the kitchen and bathroom twice a week...because those rooms are used the most and need it the most!  I generally vacuum and dust the bedrooms and livingroom once a week.  Sometimes I even "clean on demand"...I might have done the bathroom the day before but, sometimes the wonderful men in my house miss the toilet sooo...I usually don't wait on that!

  2. Let me give you my list.

    Every day:

    Make the bed

Grab a cleaning rag and after I've done my morning things in the bathroom, spray down the mirror with vinegar and wipe it. Then spray down the sink and toilet with diluted Lysol and wipe them down

After showers, spray down the tub with diluted Lysol and wipe it down

Put away the clean dishes from the night before

Set up and start the coffee pot

Grab a plastic bag and clean the kitty litter

    Wash the dishes after meals

    At need:

    Take out the garbage

    Do Laundry

    Clean the refrigerator

    Wash the comforter and blankets

    Once a week:

Strip the bed and wash the sheets

    Dust with a slightly-damp rag

    Vacuum

    Mop the floors

I hope this helps. Good luck!

  3. I like to work with lists- it helps me keep focussed on tasks that need completeing PLUS it makes things easier for my husband to help if he can look at a list he knows what's done and what's NOT!

I like a detailed list- mainly for my husband but, I tell him it's for me!  Routine is also key to keeping a tidy/clean house... Also maybe using some convience items to clean to make things easier on yourself... They are a bit more expensive but, worth it!

  4. i'm too tired to list everything, but here is some simple things to do.

    EVERYDAY: Your bedroom

    1. make your bed

    2. pick up anything that is on floor or out of place and put it away where it belongs.

    EVERYDAY: Bathroom (not in order)

Whatever you use in the bathrrom, put it back where it belongs.

Make sure everything is straight (toothbrush holder, soap)

Wipe off sink with a cleaner (lysol wipes are great)

Wipe down toilet seat and handle with a cleaner (yet again, lysol)

    5. Make sure youre fully stocked up on toilet paper/ towels

once a week, you should sweep your bathroom floor. shake out any rugs that are in there before you sweep. also, clean out the toilet bowl with a toilet bowl cleaner. clean any mirrors with a glass cleaner. and mop the bathroom floor. wash any towels/washcloths that need to be washed.

once every 2 weeks, clean out your tub/shower with a soap scum cleaner. (colrox has great tub cleaners)

    kitchen: everday

always wipe down counters when you are done in the kitchen with a cleaner

make sure everything is in place when youre down in kitchen

maybe do any dishes that need to be done

wipe down microwave, oven, anything appliance you use that day.

    once a week;

    mop your kitchen floor/sweep

    living room;

make sure everything is in place/looks tidy when you keep things in order

    maybe dust down some things

wipe off any coffee tables etc

    once a week;

    vaccum

i wish i could help you more. lol i tried right? below is a list of sites that have GREAT cleaning supplies and tips on how to keep your house tidy
