What should I consider when I'm buying a GPS?

I don't own a car nor do I drive. I am just considering of buying a GPS as a present for somebody. I am new to this. What should I consider when I'm buying or shopping around for a GPS?

Depending on your budget, The brand nuvi seems to be a better choice over tom tom or magellan. There are some as affordable as 200 bucks and it gives you turn by turn voice navigation and touch screen operability. Check out www.cnet.com or www.epinions.com. Good luck.
