  1. Shrimp alfredo is a good choice. Buy a jar of ready to use alfredo sauce. Pour it into a saucepan. Add 2 T. garlic and 1/4 c. of parmesan cheese. Heat until heated through. Add desired amount of salad shrimp (already cooked). Cook on med. until shrimp is hot. Boil linguine noodles according to package directions and drain. Mix with sauce.

Along with that you can serve a nice salad and some garlic cheddar biscuits like they serve at Red Lobster. Here's the recipe for those.

    Red Lobster Cheese Biscuits

    2 1/2 c. bisquick baking mix

    3/4 c. milk

    4 T. cold butter

    3/4 t. garlic powder

    1 1/2 c. shredded cheddar cheese

Preheat oven to 400. Combine baking mix with cold butter in a med bowl using a pastry cutter (or a fork). Add cheese, milk and garlic powder. Mix by hand until combined, but don't over mix. Drop approx. 1/4 c. portions onto ungreased cookie sheet using an ice cream scoop. Bake for 15-17 min. or until tops of biscuits turn light brown. Remove from oven and immediately brush on top:

    2 T. melted butter

    1/4 t. dried parsley

    3/4 t. garlic powder

    pinch of alt

      Mix together.

Hope she has a wonderful birthday.

  2. a nice cheesy lasagna will go good with a nice cup of wine and so garlic bread and a nice small salad..... don't forget the candles

  3. maybe u can try cooking in italian way...with pasta or rice ..or maybe clay-pot seafood combo..lots of olive oil or local fare with a twist ...

  4. aww thats so sweet u r cooking for your mum :-)

why dont you ask her what her favourite food is or maybe find out what her favourite place was that she travelled to and you can recreate that trip in a way usingdecorations of the place and cooking foods from that place.

My mum and dad went to india recently and on her birthday we made her an indian dinner and my brother and sister had place mats made from their holiday pics and we put one of their pics together at the taj mahal on the birthday cake.

  5. Seafood has such a delicate flavor that it must stand on it's own for the most part.

What ever you do. Don't overcook it.

Any seafood is good with garlic but can also be overwhelmed by it.

What ever you do. Don't overcook it.

Sometimes dill and most of the time fresh lemon or lime added after cooking is good.

  6. how about seafood chowder? and a salad?

    ¼ pound bacon, diced

    ½ stick butter

    2 stalks celery, sliced

    ½ large onion, diced

    3 14-ounce cans chicken broth

2 medium potatoes, diced with skin on

    1 8-ounce bottle Snow’s clam juice

    ¾ cup all-purpose flour

¼ pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined

    ½ pound small scallops

1/3 pound fresh salmon, cut into 1-inch pieces

1/3 pound any white fish, cut into 1-inch pieces

    12 ounces heavy cream

¼ dry white wine (such as Chardonnay)

    ½ tsp. thyme

    1 tablespoon dried parsley

    salt and pepper, to taste

Brown bacon in heavy 6-quart pot over medium-high heat. Don’t drain. Add butter. Sauté celery and onion in fat until translucent.

Add 2 cans of the broth and potatoes; cook until potatoes are tender. Mix third can of broth with flour thoroughly--no lumps. Add to pot. Stir until thickened.

Add thyme, parsley, and seafood. Cook until shrimp is pink and fish flakes easily, about 5 to 6 minutes.

Add cream and wine and season to taste with salt and pepper. Heat through. Serve with hot, crusty bread.

    Makes about 8 servings.

        * 1 head green leaf lettuce

        * 1 cup leftover veggies (tomatoes, peppers)

        * 5 tbsp tomato-oregano dressing

    to make:

       1. Break lettuce into salad spinner and spin dry.

       2. Slice any leftover veggies or peppers.

       3. Toss with dressing.

    hope this helps you out!

  8. If you don't have much experience with seafood, salmon is delicious, and quite forgiving.  2 preparations I like are to pan-fry it with mexican spices, then top it with a tropical fruit salsa, or marinate it in a teriyaki sauce and then broil for 5 minutes per side.   (And you can boil the leftover marinade for a few minutes to thicken, then serve everything over rice.)

  9. Fish Pockets

Take a piece of tin foils and brush it wit a healthy oil or butter.

Place fish fillet on foil and add:- finely sliced peeled potatoes, onion rings, minted green peas. (veggies of your choice)

    Wrap and crimp edges.

Bake in a 180C oven for 20 minutes

Toss on a medium hot BBQ 10 minutes either side.

As it is a special event you may want to add a few scallops, oysters, shrimps, lobster pieces.
