Question:

What should I definitely see in Rome this summer?

My tour group will be seeing the Vatican, the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and St. Peter's square, along with some museums. Aside from these places that are already scheduled visits, what else should I definitely try to see? I have a full day at leisure to see sights on my own. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  1. the pantheon, st. giovanni laterano basily (i found it amazing... so tall!), have a walk through trastevere area very suggestive!), altare della patria... spagna square, navona square, travi fountain...

    the list could be infinite!

  2. Less common areas... Trastevere (best food), San Giovanni(beautiful cathedral), Testaccio (for nightlife), Piazza del Popolo, etc.

HAVE FUN! IT'S THE BEST PLACE EVER!

  3. My favorite place in Rome is the Pantheon. In addition, you should see Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona. Some other interesting places include:

The view through the keyhole at the Consiglio di Malta on Aventine Hill. There's a picture here: http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/photo23...

This is worth the effort to find (close to Circus Maximus) - relatively few do. This site give directions on how to find it: http://wikitravel.org/en/Rome/Aventino

The Crypt at Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini is also worth a visit if you're interested in seeing works of art made from the bones of .more than 4000 monks. http://www.cappucciniviaveneto.it/

The Museum of the Souls of Purgatory is essentially a ghost museum. http://initaly.com/regions/museums/micha...

You won't be able to do all of these in a day, but it should give you a range of possibilities

PIZZA ANS PANINIS FOR 2EURO its good compared to the 6euro youd pay in ireland anyway, spannish steps, see them

the hotel i stayed in had a big park across from it wich was so fun to walk round and from it it had a view of the st peters basilica and feilds....i sure youd find it on google earth... i did....the park not the hotel lol
