I think someone may be entering my apt. without my consent. During the week, I am at work as well as my bf. Lately, My BF and I have been sucpious of some activity. Some of Our films have been missing and looks like someone has rearranged them. One time, we left the TV on and it was off, when we returned. I kept my Computer on to finish a Download and when I returned, the computer was completely shut off. I don't think I am insane nor is my BF, if we both sense the same thing. Here is some of my Theories:

1.) Employees of the Property are entering our home. Usually they enter to do maintance work.

2.) A former resident?

3.) Or a stranger who possesses my lost keys from when I lost my keys back in April.

I am not sure what to do. I want to get my locks changed and would like place an extra lock for the safety of our child. Please any Suggestions?

  1. Change the locks but before you do buy an inexpensive surveillance camera to find out who it is..

  2. Set up hidden camera, change the locks, or beat them down if you catch them in the act.

  3. first, change the locks.

you can put a small piece of cardboard like a matchbook cover in  between the door and the frame when you leave the house. when you come home, if the cardboard in on the floor no longer in the place where you left it, you'll know someone entered your apt.

  4. Yes, change your lock, BUT before you do that, make sure somebody is actually entering the place. You live in an apartment right? So there should be security cameras. If you want, borrow or buy a video camera and cassette, and film the place while you are gone.

If it is one of the employees, wouldn't they give you a warning? And if it's a former resident, I find it odd why they would go at a time when you are not there and move some stuff around. But here's the more important question: why didn't they take anything? What was the purpose of breaking in, then? Don't jump to conclusions - not to say that you're being insane - but maybe there are times that you have these fuzzy moment and you're not keeping track of what you're doing. It could also be an act done while sleeping (no, im not joking, and it is possible).

  5. anyone entering your apartment without your express permission is breaking the law. An employee of the property needs your permission to enter. If they don't have it, they are breaking the law. If you want to catch the criminal breaking and entering your apartment set up a camera. If you catch someone on it call the police. If you just want it to stop change the locks and don't give anyone a copy.
