I haver my school schedule though I'm not sure what to do to get a's and b's and get an award called academic achievement. Though I don't want to over work myself.

First Semester

English III honors

honors biology

vocal ensemble

and alg.II

2nd semester

honors chemistry

us history

vocal ensemble

and ap english

i always get a 90 or above as my final grade, I like to work hard a bit, though not so much that I get overstressed. I will be in many clubs this year and I will have a job, right now my gpa is a 3.952, is this worth staying at. Should I just do my best with my two regular classes and rish not getting academic achievement. I got it once, though I'm not sure if its worth it.

Also I'm number 45 out of my class of 204. I went down 20 people last year with all my honors and hard work. Though I did do 2 vocats and a music class.

What should I do? I have a good gpa, though is it worth maintaining as long as I have at least a 3.5 gpa?

  1. What do you want to do with your life?  If you are aiming for a top college, you do need to keep up the excellent GPA and work on keeping up the class rank, too.  It sounds like you're in a competitive school, but class rank does count for something, as does consistency with your academic performance.  A lot of colleges do pay attention to trends in performance, and give students who started off not performing well but really pull it together as they move through school some credit for improvement.  Conversely, they also sometimes notice that someone's grades have fallen off, and the loss of motivation that such a decline may indicate will concern them.  It is great, both for your own sanity and completeness as a balanced person, that you are involved in other activities, keeping a job, taking some tough classes, and still performing well, but I would advise that you continue to prioritize your academic performance very highly.  You could cut back on club membership (and consider taking on leadership roles in some activities if you have time), but don't let your performance slide on purpose.

As a side note, college offers even more opportunities to be involved in great, interesting and more meaningful activities, so figuring out your own limitations -- how much you can take on while still maintaining your own high standards of performance -- is really important for both now and in the future.

  2. Try to maintain the best GPA that you can. You will be able to get into a better college and your parents will be happy./
