I think I have schizophrenia. I checked a book and I possess almost all the symptoms. I want to tell my parents but I know they would do nothing(just like in my sister's case. My sister approached our parents about her mental health issue but they thought that my sister is only longing for attention). I want to be normal and enjoy life...

  1. You might check out these websites:

    http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/publicati...

    http://www.nami.org

    http://www.schizophrenia.ca/files/Rays_o...

    http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/schizop...

They have a lot of very good information on schizophrenia.  The first three websites have booklets in pdf format that you can download and save for future reference.

There is also an excellent book, "Surviving Schizophrenia: A Manual for Families, Patients, and Providers" by E. Fuller Torrey, Fifth Edition.  I know Barnes & Noble has it.  Amazon.com only has the 4th edition.  That is very good reading and tells a lot about schizophrenia.

  2. Generally the local gp will be the best person to talk to. From there they will give an idea what needs to be addressed from there. The fact is it may be something else which needs to be looked at anyway.

  3. Just ask your parents that you would like to see the doctor as you are not feeling very well at the moment.  If you need moral support ask one of your friends, or your sister to help you speak with them or to talk with them on your behalf.  If you have problems with this then write down what you feel are the symptoms that you have experienced and when you go to ask your parents, give them the piece of paper.

  4. try to tell ur parents...

or u can go to ur schools clinic or guidance office.....

try to ask ur teacher's help...

its good that uve noticed it..

  5. Most people with schizophrenia do not really think they are sick. They believe the hallucinations, delusions and skewed thoughts. So it's doubtful that you have it. However, something must be going on or you wouldn't be so worried. My heart goes out to you. I think you should ask your folks to take you to a doctor so you can discuss it with the doctor in private. Best wishes to you...you will be fine.
