What should I do/Where should I go in South America in JUNE?

I'm traveling to South America for 10 days in June with my brother and sister.

We're flying into Costa Rica. We want to go to as many places as we can in 10 days, but we don't want to go passed Panama, though. (we want to get our passports stamped a lot! haha!)

Any ideas of things to do on a budget of about $700-$1,000 US dollars?
