Question:

What should I do about Harang?

He is killing my WHIP and only has 3 wins this year. I thought maybe his early season funk would go away by now, but it doesn't look like it is going to. Should I just bench him until he gets a few quality starts in? Or should I drop him for the likes of a Jon Lester, Kyle Lohse, or Brandon Looper?

Any advice is appreciated.

  1. I would drop him for Lester.

I am actually surprised that Lester is still available in your league.  He has already had a no-hitter and his last 3 starts have been great.

He was supposed to be great, and had a rough start of the season. I think you can expect close to 15 wins from him.  It's worth a chance, anyways.

  2. Drop him for Kyle Lohse.  It's the middle of June, way too late for an "early season funk."  He and Barry Zito are the only pitchers in the NL with 10 or more losses and Harang has never had more than 13 losses in a season.  Harang has been miserable and Kyle Lohse has been great for the Cardinals.  Aaron Cook and Ryan Dempster are also available in some leagues, but any free agent is most likely a better option han Harang.

  3. Do NOT drop him for Lohse. He sucks. I don't care if he's got a sub 3 ERA. You don't want to be there when it goes back up to 4 and a half. And we all know that's going to happen.

I have Harang so I know your pain and my league counts losses so it's a double whammy. However I would just stick it out with him. i would not drop him, especially for the 3 guys you mentioned. And he has realy minimal trade value right now. Just hold on and pray he can turn it around.
