Question:

What should I do about drama?

Our varsity volleyball team likes to think that they are much better than us. The junior varsity team likes to think that they are better than varsity. Of course, this causes drama amongst our team. Now we just act like we're two seperate teams competing against each other. Shouldn't we try to get along? WAT SHOULD WE DO?

  1. well, the real question is... who really IS better? when you guys scrimmage.. who wins?? but the most important thing is respect. many of you girls will play with the juniors on varsity and you dont want to have any drama thats been over your heads... just respect the varsity team becasue they have more experience then you, you'll be in their position sooner or later... just talk with them.. maybe have a team outing or create big sisters where the varsity players have a JV "sister"

  2. sumthin my school does is BIG SISTERS AND LIL SISTERS

basically, a varsity player is the "big sister" to a JV player..u just give gifts and cards, encouragement, etc. to each other

in fact, i just got my big sis pancakes today!! :-) it really brings the teams together...TRUST ME

  3. The thing is, a team is a team, and you are all on the same team. So everybody needs to get over themselves and come together. Having it together off the court makes it a lot easier to get it together on the court.

  4. It's really hard for teenage girls and even grown women to get along sometimes.  Your coaches should have done something about this a LONG TIME AGO. My advice is to go to one of them and politely ask them to intervene in this feud.  It makes no sense for you guys to be fighting amongst yourselves, because ultimately, you need each other's support.

If your coaches will not intervene, you should find a teammate who wants the bickering to end, team up and call a team meeting.  That will give people a chance to sound off and let everyone know how they feel.

If this doesn't work, you may want to schedule a fun activity off school property or a dinner, so that you guys can bond.  That always worked for us.

    Best of luck!

  5. I use to manage our high school girls Varsity team in both JV and Varsity. In fact I lettered both years in it.  I sat back and watched both teams doing exactly the same thing you are writing about.

The bottom line is simple. You both play for the same school. That makes you one in the same however you are two separate entities when it comes to game time. JV plays against JV and Varsity plays against varsity.

Next year you will be on varsity and you will see the same animosity towards JV. Remember what you see today and remind Varsity who they were last year.

Play to win and win to play the next game!! Be true to your team and s***w the rest or join another team.
