I'm 25 and I've decided to move out of my home and live with my boyfriend. I told my mom and she's ok with it but when I told my brother, he threw a tantrum crying and screaming. My brother's 7 years old. My mom was single parent. she had to work a lot, so I practically raised him. Every night, he falls asleep on my lap and I carry him up and tuck him in. We're incredibly close and I don't know what to do about this. I don't want to move if it means upseting him. Can anyone help me with this?

  1. tell him that if he ever needs you that he can call you

and tell him that he can come spend the night if he wants to

    and always go see him

stay the awesome older sibling that he looks up to

and a huge thing... have your bf spend time with him...

might sound dumb but... your bro will be more accepting of you moving out if he loves your bf

make sure when you spend time with him...

its great sibling time to where he still feels a conection with you

my sis moved out a few years ago... and i hated her (she was doin drugs and drinkin all the time and i was the annoying lil sis)

but now hes goin to college and stopped doin all that and now we are even closer... so i hope this helps although my situation is completely backwards

  2. Is your mum around now?  How close are he and your mum these days?  If she's at home and this is a recent change then he might not yet be used to her being the primary care giver, and it might be prudent to wait a while before moving out.

If it's been a while then I would most likely move out, particularly if it's to somewhere nearby where I could easily visit.  If you do go with this it means you can start to visit less and less, so that it's on your terms rather than his.  He'll get used to it.  Kids are remarkably resilient.

  3. ......you are of age , your decision seems to be right,

as regards your brother he could some time come and stay with you,

it me may not disturb your life.
