21 yr old male, I play sports, do martial arts, work out. It comes on randomly, but is more frequent when I am stressed out. There are no particular circumstances that cause it. I just don't know what happened to me yesterday at work.. I'm hoping someone can explain whether I had a panic attack or just severe anxiety. My chest and throat got very tight and jittery, my heart started pounding, I felt like I wanted to cry, my muscles tightened up, I felt like I wanted to scream, I got dizzy and lightheaded, My face started tingling, my hands were shaking, I got pinching pains in my right leg.. Today I just feel jitters and tightness in my chest and, I'm very fidgety, and my face is tingling. I went to the doctor today and he doesn't want me on xanax anymore. He prescribed me .25 mg pills 2 months ago. It wouldn't help unless I took .5 and then it took the edge off. I went back to him today and told him I needed help with my anxiety and explained what happened to me. He said I'm a young man and I'm 2. I don't need to be on xanax because it is poison. I said well is there anything at all you can do for me, because I can't even sleep anymore? He said sleep is a natural process and when my body needs sleep then I will sleep. He told me to see a psychologist instead. So here I am w/ anxiety and no medication, and no way to resolve it on my own because it just comes and goes randomly as it pleases.

  2. I have an anxiety disorder too and just went to my first therapy appointment. However, my anxiety has gotten worse since found out I was pregnant. My advice would be to go see another doctor. I am only 20 years old am on .5 of lorazepam which is in the same family as xanax and prozac 10 mg. Your age has nothing to do with whether you can have anxiety or not. Its a chemical imbalance in your brain and sometimes people as young as 2 or 3 can get seperation anxiety. So he has no idea what he is talking about. Your symptoms sound exactly like what I have when I have an anxiety attack. Therefor, yes you need medication and therapy. Anxiety is very hard to cope with and get over on your own. Good luck and if you ever need to talk I'm here.

  3. I have been one 4 different anxiety meds. The best for me was adivan(spell?) You can take it when you feel them coming on and it stops them within a min. I decided to go off all of my meds and try the mental approach. My fear was with going places and i was 19 so it sucked i didnt go anywhere. I just try talking my self out of them and reassuring myself that i will be ok and that nothing is going to happen to me.  If that dont work than i would go to a psychiatrist. But just watch what they give you because some drs will give to much meds instead of counseling.

  4. I felt the same way. Please take this into consideration. It worked for me, although I am not you.

I had overwhelming anxiety. It turned out to be my use of Splenda. Yup Splenda. How could something that taste so good, be so bad?

I like to say sucralose, not Splenda, because that is what Splenda is. And it is in a lot of stuff. The package doesn't have to say Splenda to have sucralose

in it. You have to read labels. So, you might still be using it and don't even know it!

Sucralose is poison. It ruined five years of my life. I had a laundry list of medical problems while taking it, including overwhelming anxiety, depression,

    mood swings, insomnia and more.

Go ahead, google: anxiety splenda or anxiety sucralose or insomnia splenda or insomnia sucralose

The slogan, "Made from sugar..." is very misleading. Splenda might be made from sugar, but it is far from sugar. The resulting chemical is an organochloride

    (chlorocarbon). Organochlorides are typically poisons.

carbon monoxide - made from oxygen so its like a breath of fresh air

  5. hey psyhchiatrist will be the one to see...they can prescibe.  this doctor sounds like he went looney. whatever it is that changed in your life is affecting you.  take a look at possible drinking i say this from my own experience.  the shrink will ask you and if you aren't honest about it he/she wont be able to help you.

it does sound like you had an anxiety attack. what you need is not for me to say i dont have all the facts and I am not a doctor.

  6. Your doctor sounds like a tart! Go to different one

And .25 should be enough to calm you down. But i need .5 to sleep

Sounds like your having a panic attack

Finding out why your having them randomly can only be done by a therapist that has to pick your mind apart to find the source.
