What should I do about my college classes?

This fall is going to be my 3rd year in college (I'm 20)- I am not considered a junior though b/c I am about a semester behind in credits. (My first college put me in classes that I didn't really need). So now I am trying to catch up by being a full time student but am also working part time in an office as a secretary. I am currently going to school to get my bachelors degree in business... but I kind of want to do something else- eventhough a business degree is good almost w/any occupation.

So my question is: If I wanted to end up getting a nursing degree (on the 2 year plan) should I wait till after I get my business degree and go back to get my nursing or is there something else I can do that would be better? I dont want to spend forever in school.

Thanks!

  1. If you are not yet a junior, you have likely barely touched the plate on upper division business courses.  Switch out now if you don't want to remain in business, else it will end up being 2 more years of what seems like suffering to you.

Your general core classes should be the same assuming you remain at the same institution. You will likely have to complete any prereqs for your new major, however, and there may be additional college requirements within that major's department pertaining to lower division coursework that you would need to take.

You do need to plan carefully though.  If you're indecisive and later decide that nursing isn't for you, then you got some pretty big issues as you wasted quite a bit of time and money.

  2. Go for nursing now. If business isn't what you want to do, get out of it. I doubt you can reuse business credits for a nursing program.
