Question:

What should I do about my fiance?

My fiance, Jesse, was cheating on me with my best friend, Gigi. Jesse's best friend told me that he only proposed to me so that he could get closer to Gigi, because Gigi's parents didn't want her to get married. But now, they ran off together, and legally, I'm still engaged to Jesse.

  1. First, there is nothing "legal" about being engaged. All engagement means is that someone said they have the intention of marrying you. There are no legal documents or court papers associated with it--he isn't "yours" and you aren't "his". Why in the WORLD would you settle for someone that treats you like this? Let your "friend" have him--he can make her life miserable. Obviously she isn't much of a friend. The ring that (I hope) he gave you is a gift from him so take it and don't look back! :) The best that you will ever get in your life is what you settle for...is this the best that you want in your life? Spend some time to focus on yourself and be happy w/your life alone then you will be amazed that you will find someone that doesn't treat you like cr*p. Don't look at this as a loss--the way I see it, she did you a favor by getting rid of this guy for you.

  2. Being engaged is not a legal situation. You are free to leave him and you don't have to get an engagment divorce. If you are MARRIED, that is a legal situation.

  3. There is nothing "you" can do. Jesse made that decision for you. He doesn't want to be with, therefore, you no longer should want to be with him. Move on honey, you'll find someone who treats you right!

  4. Engagement has no legal standing.  By law, you're either married or not.

    Follow your heart.

  5. First of all, you don't need a fiance' like that nor a bf like that....dis them both and move on...they showed you how much they cared about you and your feelings...too much garbage with those two...find you someone that will love you and not use you...sorry...but being engaged is just about a plan to be married...nothing legal about it...HH

  6. Even if you already have a marriage license, it doesn't mean you have to use it. Just rip it up and make sure that everyone involved in the wedding, if you'd already started planning it, knows that the engagement is off. I've been a few weeks away from a wedding before, but we didn't end up going through with it, and there were no legal ramifications to our breaking up.

  7. there is no such thing as a "legal" engagement.
