I just bought a used 2005 Mercedes ML500.. its been like 4 months i have had it but i am not satisfied with it.. First of all its a v8 so just figure about the gas.. Then on top of that, this car just started making this noise when i start driving.. it sounds like the battery or the transmission is about to give up... its really scary.. what should i do? we are paying about 500 a month for this car for the next 6 years.. its already giving us trouble.. we make enough to pay bills and live.. i cant afford to have it get messed up.. I am getting extended warranty but it will kick in a month. should i keep it or trade it in? please help...

  1. Take the thing back to where you got it if you know nothing about cars the chances are that he took you for a ride..Find out if there is a common law in your country that protects people that buys goods but are not technically equipt to know if it is in good order

  2. The M class is Mercedes mistake. Go get another kind of Mercedes thats not a Mercedes suv, unless its the G class.

  3. PETROL u should have thought bout that before you brought the car! and id trade it cuz mercs are expensive to fix wen they start to have problems! bye a toyota landcrusier thier the best of 4wd's or a volvo 4wd! thier both top rated and most reliable cars ever that dont have alot of issues and are good on petrol!

  4. I am confused.

If you have an extended warranty why not have someone look at it and then decided what the repair is going to cost.

While they are doing that go and read the extended warranty so that you know whats covered and what is not.

    As for the noise.

I cant think of any noise that could be either the transmission or the battery.    Lets imagine it is the battery.  As its a quick easy fix I would be hoping it is something like that.

Do you have it serviced on time?

If it is just a simple fix trading it is not smart.   You only lose money and you may end up with something that has its own special problems.

Sort of like out of the frying pan into the fire.

  5. have a shop take a look at it... fix the problem and trade it for a better type of car one that dont cost a  arm to drive and care for you know ford chevy type cars are cheaper to drive your is one of the highest to keep going

  6. I would be very careful around a battery that's making noise!

  7. Get rid of it, if it's already causing you these problems you probably don't want to see what else it will do! plus I've never heard of anyone really loving their Mercedes, after a few years they kinda become not so great. A lexus or bmw would be a nice, well-made car in that line of cars. good luck : )

  8. I need more details regarding the noise you are hearing (What type of noise? When does the noise occur? etc...) If it sounds like rocks in a metal can under your vehicle, it may be the catalytic convertor which is covered by Federal Law for 8yrs/80,000 miles and you should take it to a MB dealership for repair. (You are able to email me the details if you like by clicking on my nic)

If you are under 50,000 miles, your vehicle may still be covered under the factory warranty. If it is over 50,000 miles, then it is good you are getting an extended warranty but they may not cover the repair if they decide it is pre-existing.

It is unfortunate if you stretched yourself financially to get the vehicle but it is a great vehicle and I hope you never find out why you want to own a Benz and that would be in an accident, it is incredibly safe.

    Good luck!
