Question:

What should I do about my old car?

I recently bought a honda fit and love it. However, I have a 1992 Camaro RS. It's a 6 cyclinder and has been good to me. I am a very sentimental person, how ever i can't just hold onto a 2nd car because i like it. Insurance would be to much. I was told maybe i should just pay registration on it. the car is pretty beat up, has 136,000 miles on it, but was recently tuned up. I don't want to sell it for 500 bucks. Suggestions or ideas?

  1. I would keep it as a beater.   My friend had 2 mustang gt's.  An 07 and a 93.  Insurance on the 2nd one was like $200/year since you dont need comprehensive/collision and its listed as a second car.  If you really need the $$ then list the car for say $1500 obo

    Goodluck

  2. Have you actually spoke to your insurance agent about the car? Usually 15+ year old cars have very low rates since they're not very valuable and aren't in that good of a condition.

Ask for a one-way insurance policy. If the car gets into an accident or stolen, chances are your insurance company won't even pay you $500 so there's no logic behind buying full coverage.

  3. sell it and keep tour sentimental side for a woman you will be better off

  4. Take lots of photos, blow them up and frame them nicely. Hang them in a special place in your home. Then sell the car and save a memento from it. Take a badge or something.

I had to part with my first car and I saved the hood emblem (it was a totaling accident so nobody was going to miss it) and the registration stickers on the windshield (attached to the glass).

  5. get it registered as non operational and park it off the street.

what a great car to restore!
