  1. in the kitchen serving drinks and cooking .

  2. I would make a sign that says adults this way with arrow and party kids this way with arrow.  Let your parents know that this is how you want it done to give you privacy on your special day.  Even set up a area outside for the adults if it is nice weather.  Everyone can join when opening presents and eating cake.

  3. you could put them in a nice and quiet place where they could chat with each other. or if possible, have them something fun to do so they won't get bored. since you're the host, make sure you can handle both parties well.

  4. I can almost guarantee you that they don't want to be in the party room with a bunch of younger kids dancing around to loud music is. As I have gotten older, I have moved further and further away from "that room". Have a separate room/area with drinks, food, and places to sit and hang out so they can gather together.

  5. Hang them on the coat rack until you need them. If you are doing something that you don't want them to see, you shouldn't be doing it (at least on the dance floor). When you invite people to a party, it should be for everyone.

  6. Do you have an extra room (den, living rom, etc) where they could sit and talk.  Serve them something to drink (coffee, tea, etc)... let them know they are welcome to watch the dancing but may be more comfortable in the other room because of the loud music.  DO NOT MAKE THEM FEEL UNWELCOME...  Very Important!!!

Happy Birthday!  have a good time!

  7. either invite them to the whole party or none of it..

  8. You can't restrict your relatives access to the party room.  Make sure you spend some time with each of your relatives and not just the ones who venture into the selfish area.
