What should I do about this ebay transaction?

Here's the complete situation, I won't mention any details though.

Back in Feb. I purchased something for around 400-500 dollars. Before the seller sent the item I backed out and told them to just take 30$ out of the check I had sent to cover ebay fees. They sent a refund about the middle of march, it never arrived though. I contacted and they said it must have gotten lost.

I told them to run a stop-payment on check and simply send the refund through paypal(even offered that they could take the stop-payment fee out of the refund.)

The seller has near-perfect feedback and it seems like they've never ripped off anyone else, they've also been fairly responsive. They said that their bank said a stop-payment only would work for 6 months, then after that it could be cashed.

I have a feeling I'm going to get ripped off but what solution could I offer to them that should be fool-proof?

  1. that's bs a stop payment is indefinite, ask your bank.

if you don't have the check they should send another one, or go through paypal.

but if they do nothing, you're getting ripped off.

and you should NEG thier asses

  2. Give them an ultimatum. Be like, "If I don't have my money in 3 days, I'm gonna find where you live and put a bag of p**p on your porch and light it on fire." Sixty percent of the time, it works every time. Trust me.

  3. If you made your purchase through paypal, you're covered. Contact them and they will make sure you get your refund.
