Question:

What should I do about this traffic ticket?

So a little over a year ago I moved from California to Kansas City. While driving through Utah, I got a speeding ticket. I got to KC and immediately started law school and completely forgot about the ticket. I've since lost the ticket. I'm trying to find any info on the ticket so I can get it taken care of. Since I got it, I've changed cars and drivers licenses. I've pulled my California driving record (the license I got the ticket under) and performed a nationwide criminal check on myself, and have found nothing. Anyone have any ideas as to how I can get this taken care of?

  1. All you have to do is call a court house in utah, they will do a search based on your drivers license number.  most likely you can pay over the phone or online.  just keep in mind that if you want your ticket lowered you will have to appear in person to traffic court.

  2. Try calling Utah, the state should be able to give you information on it. Oh, and don't call them from your house or cell phone in case they get the urge to make an example of you.

  3. You probably have a warrant. A warrant for a traffic offense will not show up on a nationwide check, as the warrant would only be valid in Utah.

If you went through on I-80, the state is pretty narrow there, you should be able to call each county.

  4. Think about your trip through Utah.  Grab a map and retrace the route.  Look at the name of the county you might have been in and call the court system in that county.  You should be able to get all the info needed wit a phone call, maybe even pay it.
