Question:

What should I do about this volunteer situation?

Ok, I contacted this lady who works at the Public Library through email, because I found it online through this volunteer website. I said I was interested in volunteering, because my class requires it.

She replied, thanks for being interested, there's a 25 hour minimum, and if you want contact me and we'll set up an appointment to fill out an application and such.

Well, she sent me that reply on Thursday, Feb 7th... and I replied back to her, that same day.

It's now Tuesday, and I haven't heard from her. So what should I do? Should I call her, or go to the library?

I don't want to seem pushy-- or rushy, because I'm hoping that I can get a job there after volunteering, and stuff..

  1. I would contact again just to make sure they got the e-mail.

  2. Just call her. She got busy or it was an oversight.  If you are diligent it will show and they will want to hire you.

  3. I would call her and let her know you are following up about the volunteer position.  Just ask if the opportunity is still open and if you can come in for a face-to-face interview.

  4. Call her.She was probably busy.

Or go in to check out some books and talk to her and let her know you are still interested.

  5. Call her. I used to be a volunteer coordinator and I had over 450 volunteers! I got LOTS of emails and would read them but not always have time to reply right away. Sometimes they get forgotten. Just give her a call and tell her you emailed but wasn't sure if she got it so wanted to follow up. Ask her if this is a good time to discuss a time to meet in person. She'll probably just tell you she got your email and is sorry she didn't reply because she was so busy. Also, she may not have even been around. So just follow up and good luck!

  6. re send the email or go back to the library so she could now your willing to do the volunteer job

  7. You should call her.  It won't be pushy.  Just let her know you're following up on your email b/c you want to start ASAP.
