Question:

What should I do? (bit by a dog)?

I was playing with my neighbor's dog (I've raised her since she was a puppy). I was going to drop-kick her ball for her, and she only saw the ball drop. Her canine tooth went through my Croc, and punctured my foot. My first reaction was to check her because it was so loud of a noise that I thought I broke her tooth. She's fine, but I have a very deep punture wound on the top of my foot. It bled for about 2 hours, I think I may have chipped a bone, and/or knicked a tendon.

What should I do? It hurts to walk, and I'm still worried about the dog. All shoes are painful, and I just don't know what to do. I have to work today, and I walk a lot at work.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

  1. probably should have it checked. but for a quick fix, put some QWIK Stop on it (the powder you use if you clip a dogs nails to short) and put some vetwrap around it.

neosporin wouldn't be a bad idea either.

  2. id say go get it checked out. not only should you get it cleaned out by a doctor but also u should make sure u didn't get any bone or tendon injury.

  3. Get to the emergency room.  You need a tetanus shot as well as other infection precautions, and you may very well have an injury that needs more treatment.  You shouldn't go to work and walk around on it or you will definitely get an infection.

  4. Definitely get it checked out soon. But as for now, put some Neosporin or Lanacane on it, or some sort of antibacterial cream, and then wrap it up. Consider taking the day off from work to go get it checked out.

  5. You need to have it checked by a doctor and you need to report the dog bite.

Where I live, you are suppose to report every dog bite, no matter how it happened or how "small" the bite is.

My daughter got bite several years ago by a small dog, it bit her on the nose. My daughter looked fine, it left a red mark ont he outside of her nose and her nose did bleed for a little bit due to a tooth getting her inside her nose.

This happened around 6pm, by the next morning, around 7am, she has running a fever and her face was swollen, it had became infected and the infection had got into the sinus cavity.

The doctor was less then pleased that I hadn't brought her in to be check when it happened. Thats when i found out all bog bites are suppose to be reported.
