What should I do for a friend who is moving away?

My friend Chelsea is moving to Paris for 10 months. I want to know what I should do for her, or what I should get her. I am an 18 year old male and live in NY if that helps. I am making her a CD of songs we always listen to...any ideas of goods songs about friends or moving away or something? I need help. I want to buy her a gift but don't know what to get.

As for a gift:

Is it going to be cold? You can buy her a cute, baggy hoodie. Or if you have a hoodie, give it to her so she'll remember you everytime she sees it. It's very personal and she'll love it.

Pajama pants with a print that is reasonable (like you both live in the city, so maybe you can find one with NY lights or skyscrapers on it)

A calendar with scenes of NY

A NY snowglobe

A framed picture of the two of you smiling together that she can put on her desk

A scarf, she can wear it the day it starts getting chilly so it's great

A journal. Ask her to write to you everyday in it and then when she returns, the two of you read it together.

Write her a song or put it on youtube and tell her not to look at it until she's in Paris

A really good book that she can enjoy over there, make it a special book

Maybe a pair of home socks, they are like slip-ons sorta & really fuzzy

A small locket, necklace, or bracelet

You can make her a friendship bracelet, take three pieces of thread and braid it. Then tie it around her ankle or her wrist and tell her never to take it off. Really, wear it until it rots off. You wear one too, that way you two are always connected to eachother.

I think a hoodie is probably your best bet, especially since you don't have to worry about it being too small. Just buy a nice comfy, roomy size for her. You don't need to go out and get her something expensive. Even the friendship bracelet means a lot. Really, the thing that she'd want most from you is a long hug and maybe something to keep with her at all times to remember you at times when she wants to go home most [:
