I'm 12 weeks pregnant and I have bleeding hemroids. I've been using Preparation H, for two days. It was not bleeding at first. It just started today. I called the docs office and the midwife left for the day. So any advice?? Thanks

  1. The bleeding is caused from them being so inflamed and swollen.  You need to drink extra water (I'm sure you've heard this 100 times!) and sit with your feet elevated. Twice a day mix up a glass of Metamucil or whatever brand of fiber supplement you choose and drink it.  It will help to loosen your bowels so you don't have to "force" anything out.  ALSO---an over the counter product (here it can be purchased at Rite Aid) called "MANDELAY" (yes it's for exactly what you think it is for) works miracles for the pain!  It will numb it/them and make sitting with your feet up much easier! I used it much more often than what the directions said..namely because I was using "on" a different area than they were intending me to use it for.

  2. Sit in a warm bath, leaning toward 1 side or the other, not directly on your butt.  Also if you can use cool compresses down there to help relieve pain/bleeding.  Get a donut to sit on, or use a heavy blanket and form it in a round shape, so when you sit, your not directly on your butt.  Wear a pad so you don't bleed all over.

  3. my mother had them really bad and she took a herbal medicine called rutin not sure if you can take when pregnant but it really helped her took the swelling away
