okay. so we had to put our pup down yesterday.

and it seemed like my girls were annoyed by him. but my dog Bella seems really depressed...is there a way that she knows he is coming back? what should I do for her? and my dog Meri is even more dependent on me (like follows me around always watching me...never letting me leave her sight)

so is it possible that they know he is gone? or is it that they sense our feelings and they feel it too?

how can I cheer them up? we are going to the dog park tomorrow...would that help?

  1. My dogs seem to need closure. I am confident that Maggie can read my mind. We lost JoJo several mos ago and I let Gus and Maggie stay with me when I put her in a box. They seemed a bit confused at first but, after smelling of her they knew and just sat and watched me cry while I got her ready to bury. They know a lot more than they are given credit for. I could not put a dollar figure on the pleasure they give me and my family.

  2. If it's possible I suggest buying another dog. They say dogs know when the other dog dies. I suggest you watch your dog careful and make sure it eats.

  3. Why did you have to put him down?  Pup = puppy  or older dog. Dogs do develop relationships with other dogs and their masters. But it isn't right to keep a dog alive just for your own personal gratification if the dog is suffering. Sometimes we just have to let go.  We had a mourning period of almost a year before we bought another....

  4. yes that would help alot and you should get another dog because then iit will have that empty feeling back filled

  5. Having bred dogs for most of my life, I am convinced that they know when their buddy goes to the rainbow bridge. I am also a strong believer that no living thing should be alone without someone, or something to relate to. Could you go to a shelter and adopt a needy puppy? Bella, and Meri are used to having their little buddy around and know she will not be coming back home, and yes, I honestly think they can be depressed about the loss of thier buddy.
