I just got a racket yesterday, and I was wondering what I should do to practice. Tennis sounds fun, and my mom wants my whole family to do it. Any tips?

  1. just get out and play

  2. practice alittle then smoke them and believe in yourself to win

  3. After you have acquired your racquet, make a firm resolve to use good tennis balls, as a regular bounce is a great aid to advancement, while a "dead" ball is no practice at all.

The following order of development produces the quickest and most lasting results:

    1. Concentration on the game.

    2. Keep the eye on the ball.

    3. Foot-work and weight-control.

    4. Strokes.

    5. Court position.

    6. Court generalship or match play.

    7. Tennis psychology.

  4. Tennis is a bit hard to just pick up and play, although many people think differently. If you want to learn more about the sport, I suggest looking up information. There's videos on youtube most likely that will show you how to hit correctly, even if you're just beginning.

But just get out there and play around, hit some balls and see what works for you. Ask your mom for tips if shes played before, or go down to the courts and watch other people play a bit and see how they hit.

  5. That's great there is more interest in tennis. Some tips are hold your racket parallel to the ground. Also you don't need to hit it fast slow and steady. And since your new I wouldn't worry about hitting it that hard.

    Hope this helps you ;-)

  6. try and take lessons at yer local rec. center and just get out and play

  7. practice make perfect

  8. That's funny. Because I just got my first racquet yesterday too!

Start out by going to a tennis court with your mom or dad and hit some balls over the net, to get the feel of it. Then, have whoever that is playing with you hit some over the net for you to hit back.

I just had my first lesson yesterday night. It was really fun and you're really going to enjoy the sport.

  9. Take lessons so u learn properly if u can afford it. i made the mistake of learning bad habits. if you cant afford it at least look up the basic grips online an d go have fun

  10. It is very good  whole family members play tennis. It is good for health and also keep family member's relationship well. The first thing you need to do is to find a good coach to teach your family. But if your parents already play very well, they can teach you. It is very important at the beginning to have good beginning instruction, otherwise after you play long time, you find out you have some bad habit when you play tennis, it will be hard to correct because you already used to. Frequent practice is  very important too. I don't know how old you are, if you keep playing well until you are high school, you can join school team ,it will help you when you apply college. Playing tennis also benefit your whole life , Your Mom makes right decision--Whole family play tennis.

  11. Seriously, just get out and play!  It's really not hard once you play once or twice - you'll get the hang of it.

Just remember that you are doing it for fun and don't worry about keeping score, etc.  Just learn your techniques first, like how to swing the racket with the right angle and speed, etc.

    I love tennis now.
