What should I do if I can't get my bird to get in it's cage on the first day?

When I first got my parakeet, I released him into my room, but I can't get him into the cage. What should I do?

Try toweling him/her or using a perch to get her to step up.Either way you need to let him/her know that she is not where she needs to be at the moment.Also start teaching him/her to step up on your hand by placing your hand at chest level and saying step up.

If his wings are not clipped I hope you bought a net. The best way would be to bait him into the cage.
